Sonning Common – Memorial Hall Field Recreational Park Project

A field in Sonning Common, South Oxfordshire has been formally transferred to the ownership of the Parish Council and is all set to become a sports and recreation ground.
The project is the largest and the most expensive ever for the Sonning Common Parish Council. Aurora Construction Consultancy UK is appointed to provide Design, Cost, and Project Management for this exciting development. Our main scope is to control and drive the programme of the works through execution.
Memorial Hall Field is in the Chilterns Area, of outstanding natural beauty and distinctive landscape. The 10 acres of field has been agricultural land but has not been in use for several years, the purpose of this project is to create an active destination for the community with areas of level playing space for informal recreation, sport, physical activity, and community events, in a setting which is sympathetically landscaped and in keeping with the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (“AONB”) in which it is located.
The project consists of:
• Sitewide bulk earthworks with cultivation and seeding work
• Preparation and constructions of Public Access and car parking
• A 700m trackway construction
• Swale excavation
• Play areas
• Cabling/conduits for future lighting for the footpath and MUGA
• Multi games area (MUGA)
• MUGA drainage and connection to a swale
Future plans include new recreational and social facilities like buildings with a gym, indoor racket sports, a café, and space for hire.
