Simon Davies

Simon Davies is a company director and senior project manager who works mainly with international end-user clients to manage their capital projects in the Nordics. Simon originally trained as an Architect in the UK before switching to Project and Design Management. Before moving to Sweden in 2017, he was the responsible project manager for significant buildings projects – such as Dubai Creek Horizon for Emaar Properties. Since moving to Sweden, he has acted as design manager for a 700-bed student apartment complex in Stockholm and as project manager on several high profile commercial fit-out projects. Simon is interested in the impact that project managers have on creative teams. His MSc thesis looked carefully at the soft skills of project managers working on award-winning projects. From this, he developed an original model to guide the project manager’s thinking and actions. This was published and presented at the World Building Congress 2016 and is now included on the recommended reading list for Delft Universities Project Management masters’ degree. Simon is continuing to develop and refine this model through his work at Aurora. This is particularly well suited to the Swedish market and culture, where soft interventions tend to generate the most favourable outcomes. “I had the pleasure of working with Simon between 2011 and 2013 on a very challenging project in Abu Dhabi. The project team as a whole was under constant pressure to deliver, and Simon displayed a very high level of control and professionalism throughout. This allowed him to remain calm and ensure the job was done while others around him were losing focus. Simon pays great attention to detail and will not rest until the deliverables are complete to meet the required quality standards. His organised approach to tackling tasks is a key factor in his ability to manage both people and processes alike”. Brian Sweeney, Associate – Project Management, Ramboll Middle East
